 Do you know this man right there?!! Have you seen him before?! well maybe in the news....If you don't, I'm going to tell you I little bit about him and what he has done in Puerto Rico to "aportar un granito de arena" to our society.
Let’s get started:
He’s full name is Victor Rodriguez Figueroa and he is from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. Victor fulfills his studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Píedras campus; now this is when things get more interesting, why? Because this is where it all started. As a student in the University of Puerto Rico he began interested in fighting for rights and laws, so he became a Social Student Leader. Obviously his fight for rights and laws didn’t stop there, this was just the beginning of he’s history trying to make a positive impact and change in Puerto Rico throughout the years.
After completing his studies he worked as a Professor for the Labor Relations Institute of the University of Puerto Rico. As I said he “worked as a Professor”, is very interesting that lots of people think that he is only a Truck Driver because he has been the President for many years till know of “Frente Amplio de Camioneros”.
“Frente Amplio de Camioneros” is a syndicate that group’s the majority of transporters in our Country and thanks to Victor Rodriguez they have achieved very significant benefits such as: fuel adjustment, fair rates, control of weight and measurements in transportation and many more. Not only he’s the president of this syndicate but he has been part of others significant syndicates in Puerto Rico such as: “Tronquistas” and “Central Puertorriqueña de Trabajadores” also achieving very important benefits, called in spanish “beneficios de avanzada” which include benefits for the workers in regards of work and hours schedule, work security, benefits for their health, etc.
Aside from his fights and work with the mention syndicates, let me you that also he has been taking part in political aspects. He was a Representative for “Partido Popular de Puerto Rico” and he work as the assessor of labor issues for the Governor Rafael Hernandez Colón. He has created favorable laws for the workers in our society and throughout his entire trajectory he has negotiated over 100 Collectives Agreement. As you may see he has dedicated all of his life to make a positive impact in Puerto Rico, trying and achieving significant benefits for “los trabajadores” of our country. That’s why I decided to choose him, I believe that in general everyone focuses in looking for someone we all know already to talk about but NO, it’s time for people to know that there is people out there, people as Victor Rodriguez that maybe not all of you know or recognized but he’s there, fighting and making positives changes for our “Isla del encanto”.

 One thing that has changed my mind I have to tell you is this TV series/docudrama called The Pit Boss following Luigi “Shorty” Rossi on the Animal Planet channel. “Shorty” is an ex-con that loves his Pit bulls, he breaths and does everything for them, when he got out of prison he got no one just his dogs and that’s why he wants to do everything for them, for this misunderstood breed. Through the docudrama you get to experience his life as he rescues Pit Bulls and tries to find them loving and caring homes to running his Talent Agency for Little People.
I started watching this TV series since it got out on 2010. My parents were the ones who watched the series first and told me about it, how interesting it was and how this little people rescue dogs, but not any dogs but PIT BULLS. So for my curiosity I started watching it and turns out I loved it. What did it do to me?!! Well let me tell you that before watching it I did not like Pit Bulls at all, for me they were these big, scary & angry dogs that I didn’t want to be near them. Through the series I learned a lot about these dogs how they are smart, loving, peaceful dogs that were really and still are really misunderstood.
I think this docudrama is powerful because it’s making like a stand for what they believe in, what they think they can change, no matter what other people may think about this breed they still are fighting for this dogs to be understood. Through the series Shorty and his crew travel to different places around the world to support protests that are being made to make conscience to the people and to make the government change laws about this breed being killed. Watching this series make me realizes that these dogs are like any other breed (not that I was in favor of killing them, that would never go through my brain…but I really did not like Pit Bulls) the difference is that they are waiting to be loved and understand, not being judge just because some “owners” don’t know how to take care of them and just uses them as any object to fight. In the series you get to see this rescues that leaves you speechless, puppies being left of a shopping cart with a chain around their necks, dogs that are left on cars for days with no windows open and many more. So I invite you guys to watch this series/docudrama and get to know and learn more about Pit Bulls and enjoy it too because besides the rescues and everything you will laugh about the things this Little People do.  Interesting blog, huh?!! Hahaha well for me it is, since I love Disney and I’m a fan, as you may know if you already have read my 350 words post is that I’ve been to Disney literally 10 times and I don’t get tired of going there for me it is just so magical and fun. I like the movies and I still have them since I was little, going to Disney with my family is like living these magical moments were no matter how old you are you still enjoy yourself and feel as if you were a kid again. So when I enter our classroom and see on the screen this video that was paused like on a scene from my favorite movie and princess, which is Beauty and the Beast, my thoughts were that maybe we were going to see part of the movie or a documentary talking about “GOOD” things lol about Disney and I was excited (what can I say I’m a fan?!! xD)
So when the teacher says it’s about the other side of Disney and looking at the messages they are really portraying through their movies, I was like “OMG this is not going to be good, I will be sad”. My initial reaction after watching the documentary was just being shocked and experiencing mixed emotions; I can’t really find another word. Why was I shocked? Simply because I've never thought of those things or maybe never think about the movies those ways. It was really impressive, at least for me, thinking about those details they presented and in some kind of way realize they were true. On the other hand when I think about some things they presented I was like “common please, that’s just being exaggerated”. I did learn a couple of things watching this documentary, but the one that I was like "that's so trueeeee!!!!" was about the movie "Little Mermaid" but let me tell you that it didn't hurt me that most because since I was little I did not like Ariel, for me she was "la princesa mas fea" hahaha It was interesting realizing that is so true that this girl basically is giving up who she is to be a human and with NO voice at all to conquer this man, is just "wow".
How would I approach Disney in the future?! Well I'm sorry for you guys but STILL a fan xD I do understand what they were explaining on the documentary and I know I have to be more aware of those things but at the same time watching it I was like, when I was little and still I watched this movie and I never thought of them those ways or ever think about those messages, it really didn't affect me throughout my childhood..but on the other hand, yes I would definitely be more aware about the Disney topic.

 I don't know about you guys....but clearly this picture is depicting one of the many realities in the world we live in. What I did understand by looking at it is the violence nowadays, now anyone could get beat just by silly things and like it says in the picture then for some stupid and immature reason (maybe thinking it's cool) post it on the internet. These days beating someone or doing something like it means your "cool" or that this matter more than getting good grades or actually making something good for the society.

 Let's start by knowing what an editorial is....
So based on the definitions I found on the internet, an editorial is acquiring or preparing material for publication or a newspaper article written by or on behalf of an editor that gives an opinion on a topical issue.
Here are the four editorials that I really liked and caught my attention:Claridad

After looking and learning about these editorials the one I liked the most was "Claridad" just because I know this newspaper and read it sometimes. "Claridad" is a national circulation seminar in Puerto Rico and it was founded on June 1, 1959. The objective of this newspaper, that I must say is the most antique newspaper here in Puerto Rico, is fighting for the independence in Puerto Rico, the most important colony.The articles and news they present and about are analysis and critics of what’s happening in our island to make puertoricans have conscience and keep fighting for our land, it also talks about issues around Latin America since they are obviously part of us as latinos, socially, culturally and historically. Based on what I know and learn about "Claridad" in my opinion the author is well informed on the topics he wants to make an statement and is clear on what he wants to pursue through the articles and analysis/critics. Looking at this newspaper my favorite parts were: Internacionales/America Latina, Opinión and Nacionales. Since this newspaper if from here, our beloved Puerto Rico its written in spanish. Finally I've got to say that I found the author really passionate about what he's doing, by reading the newspaper you can see and feel what he wants the reader to think, to feel, in other words is a great newspaper.

7-People who likes to touch you as if you were a blanket, a pet or something.
8-Other peoples feet, if they're not well clean and nice!
9-People asking obvious and stupid questions.
10-People that only talk to you when they need FAVORS!!!
11-Complaining about everything.
12-People who try to talk over you when you clearly know more about a topic.
13-People that apparently love to make scenes of their love in front of everyone showing their tongues and everything on their mouths.
14-Bad breath.
15-Bad smell....people use perfume pleaseee !!
16-People who like to know all about your personal life.
17-Wet shoes or feet on a rainy day....oh does that pisses me off.....!!!!!
18-Lazy people.
19-Hypocrites.
20-Crying about everything all the time.

23-People that call you lots of time in ONE day!!!SOCIAL VS. PERSONALI think that when separating the list, the things that fall on the social list were because you get to see them around the world, in our daily lives. I defined "social" as something that is happening around your environment with the people around you and what they are doing. On the other hand "personal" is more about who we are and what we like and don't like to see or experience in our personal space, I think it's more about our "taste" and maybe even personal beliefs. SOCIALWhen taking another look into my list, I have to say that somewhat I found myself a little bit confused because I think they were some aspects that could fall into the personal list or category too. Overall I think the aspect that I did mention fall into SOCIAL because they were things happening in my environment around the world, in places we go. For example, I would say smoking or another one could be child abuse and violence, those are things that are happening around the world that are NOT personal and not coming from myself but it involves all us as we are part of one world and society.
SOCIAL ISSUES:Looking at my list one of the aspects that bothers me the most is Child Abuse, I just don’t understand how people could do several things to an innocent kid. Reading or watching the news is depressing nowadays, every new is about criminality, murders, violence and many other things that don’t make a positive advantage in our society. Clearly by mentioning this, another aspect that affects me is Violence, these days we teach each other to learn not to get hit by anyone instead of teaching the violent person not to do it, and I know this sounds so "cliché" but what can I say it’s the truth in the world we live in. Last but not least I would say that another aspect that affect me is to know people who Smoke, I mean it’s your life and I totally respect it but why would you do that to yourself, do you know how many diseases you could get and what you're doing to our environment. My favorite post so far has been the very first one we did about our "superpowers & lies". I thought it was fun trying to find out which one was the lie and it was a fun way to get to know a little bit about everyone. Another post I did like very much was the one about about our favorite artist, mine was Frank Sinatra and how did I enjoy sharing with you guys my love for him and his awesome and lovely music!!
On the other hand, they were also some blogs/post that I was not happy or interested in doing, they didn't caught my attetion and I didn't find them fun at all o.O....and those were:......the one about Law 54, Oh God, did I find that blog so boring(not that it wasn't an important topic but it was not something I want to write a BLOG about)!! and I was feeling that was not part of the class , as you can see I didn't wanna do it at all, (sorry Profe :/). The other post I didn't like was recently, it was the one about the Scavenger Hunt, I just think of it as a lot of work for just one class and basically for one hour.
 One of the places I've always wanted to visit is SPAIN, mostly Barcelona. I just found it so fresh, beautiful, and interesting and it would be amazing to have the chance and go there any time in the future. Doing this research help me found and know some interesting facts about Spain. Now let’s share them with you guys, maybe you’ll love it too and would want to go…
Did you know that Spain is one of the fifty largest countries in the world!? I didn’t know and it is amazing, at least for me it is; Spain covers an area of 505,955 square kilometers. As a result of its location the climate ranges from the mild oceanic climate in the North, to the continental Mediterranean in the Centre and the Mediterranean in the East and South, factors that combine to create a wet Spain in the North and mountainous areas, green Spain with luxuriant forests and a dry Spain in the Mediterranean. In talking about this country geographically one of the aspects I did like and would love to visit is the “luxuriant forests”, it should be beautiful getting into those places, getting in touch with nature.
Getting into more fun facts, I started researching more about the culture and their traditions. One of the books mentions that all of Spain festive traditions come from religious beliefs and origins. What’s interesting about this is that it mentions that you could see in their expressions and folklore how they combine religious fervor and pagan in festive commemorations. The most important traditional celebration in Spain is Easter week. This takes place at the end of March or April, and takes place among vivid and extremely moving popular processions. The greatest number of festive events takes place in the summer months, between June and September, according to the geographic area, as they tend to combine both religious and socio-economic aspects.
When I continued reading and doing my research, I found that Spanish art constitutes one of the most important cultural heritages of the world. I was amazed by these facts since it seems that Spain really is an important country from all around the world; actually there has been people from Spain being awarded with a Nobel Prize from amazing work reflecting the folklore and culture from the country.
Spain has lots of libraries and museums through all the territory, having the most important cultural and world treasures. The National Library which is located in Madrid is the most important library and it was inaugurated in 1712, I would love to visit not only The National Library but as many as I can as I love to read and learn from the history and how this places were build and more. Now for all of you who love art, did you know that Spain has over 1,400 museums?! The famous one is Museo del Prado and like the others museums it held valuable, antique and significant paints and artifacts.
Doing this research was very interesting and I invite you guys to know more about beautiful Spain because you could found and see how many amazing cultural places they have for you to visit. I hope one day I could actually visit this country, don’t worry because if I do I will tell you all about it and more lol.

 As we all know yesterday was a unique day in Puerto Rico because of the protest that was happening in the north part of "El Capitolio" were lots of people mostly from religious groups came together to voice their feelings and thoughts on Law 54. What's really happening is, based on the articles and news I read on the newspaper and internet is that the representative Luis Vega Ramos propose to make a new amendment to Law 54 to protect all couple/marriages no matter their sexual orientation from physical or emotional abuse. When this news got out and spread "el pueblo" voice their thoughts against this amendments, they feel that by amending the law their approving homosexual marriage which is not correct and is against God creation and what the traditional family is. Now what the political side is saying and/or proposing is that this amendment should be approved because of what happened on April 2011 on the Leandro Ruiz Martinez case were he abuse physically his partner and there were controversies to see if the law 54 will or will not be applied to the case or situation. What the political side is proposing is to approve this in order to protect every person. By the time it has seem that this situation really is important and does matter to "el pueblo" of Puerto Rico because they feel that by making or approving this amendment is just one step away in approving homosexual marriage at our island, so based on the final decision the political side made, this could definitely have social repercussions in the future on how things will be socially in Puerto Rico.

Even though I feel that this topic is not really appropriate to be discussing in class because of everyone personal and different opinions, I will give my thoughts and feelings on this and of course read and respect everyone else's because I think this is what is about respecting everyone personal thinking.
So of course this is a really important issue to us because its affecting our society and beloved island of Puerto Rico, to me, well…it is an important topic to know about and to see for which side things will develop better, because of what happens at the end its going to set on how things will go around our society. So what position or stance I’m taking?!! ... Well, I don’t like to pick sides and fight and yell about things, I’m a really easy going and peaceful person, but I got to say that I’m a Christian and as a Christian I really know where I stand and what I believe in, what my principles and believes are. So based on that I think we all know which side I’m in. As the Christian I am, I respect everyone as they are, I don’t like to judge people, and I think that if you want to be homosexual then be it that’s not my life or my issue but you don’t have to yell it to the whole world you are. I have friends and I mean close friends that are homosexuals and maybe you won’t believe me but they were against this spectacles the LGBT community have been giving, for example on valentine’s day here at our university and even in the “Capitolio” protest. I think that no matter what you are, heterosexual or homosexual, you don’t have to be publishing your personal life for anyone (but this doesn't have to really do anything with the main issue). That’s what I got to say I believe in God so I don’t believe or think that same sex marriage is appropriate but for that I don’t judge anyone, I like to respect everyone so they can respect me back.
WHAT OTHER ISSUES SHOULD BE ADDRESS AS THIS ONE?!! Well of course (and I think lots of you agree on that) the criminality and economy status of Puerto Rico. I mean look at the news, it’s really sad and depressing to read and/or hear every day this horrible events of death and murder that have been happening here. I think we all should come together, no matter what your believes are and fight, and protest for “el bienestar” of our beautiful island and “echar pa’lante”.
